A Bread Bin in the Kitchen
61What is a Bread Bin?
Consider the setting: the year is 1825. The city: London. Preservatives were nary an afterthought as were plastic bags. In it's stead were these wonderful appliances that one could tuck away their leftover bread and keep counter tops clutter free. I give you...the bread bin.
A bread bin is a way to store your bread which helps maintain freshness for a bit longer. Back when the bins were en vogue, everyone had a place to store their leftovers because, if you didn't it was guaranteed the bread would go stale almost as fast as you baked it. And because everyone had a bread bin, there were many interesting styles to choose from.
Nowadays, we have preservatives added to the mass producing of bread. While there are its pros and cons, we can all agree that bread with preservatives is not the same as bread freshly baked without.
And my opinion matters very little in the grand scheme of things, but fresh baked bread is delicious and beats the crust off the offerings of the bakery corporations from this world (I'm looking at you Wonderbread).

A Bread Bin in the Kitchen
A bread bin in the kitchen adds a touch of class to the home. Imagine for a monent a home without a bread bin. With most homes having a loaf of their favorite bread on the counter it smacks of clutter. The loaf is either in a plastic bag or if it's fresh baked, it's uncovered on the counter or a cutting board. What do you do if you want to save it for another day? It has to be to placed in a plastic bag, in a ziploc, or worse, left out in the open. All of these choices are bad for bread. The solution? A bread bin!
